Meet Dr. Shaghayegh (Rose) Sobhani, DDS

Dr. Shaghayegh (Rose) Sobhani grew up surrounded by dentistry in Tehran, Iran, following in her family’s footsteps as a second-generation dentist. Her journey from Tehran University of Medical Sciences to Columbia University reflects a commitment to achieving the highest levels of specialized training.

Tehran University of Medical Sciences, Iran’s leading dental institution, provided Dr. Sobhani with her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree and strong clinical foundations. She recognized that periodontics combined her interests in surgical precision and long-term patient relationships, leading her to pursue specialized training in the United States.

Columbia University in New York City became the setting for Dr. Sobhani’s intensive three-year periodontics residency. She balanced rigorous clinical training with research, earning a Master of Science degree through her investigation of factors influencing dental implant success. Her academic and clinical performance earned recognition through the Kenneth L. Siegel Scholarship Award in Postdoctoral Periodontics and the Certificate of Recognition for outstanding scholarly achievement in the Drs. Paul Tannenbaum and Robert Schoor Memorial Competition from the Northeastern Society of Periodontists.

Dr. Sobhani achieved Diplomate status with the American Board of Periodontology, demonstrating her commitment to meeting the specialty’s highest standards. She maintains active involvement in professional organizations, including the American Academy of Periodontology, American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association, and Northern Virginia Dental Society.
